Le Conte, October 2019

An overnight on Mount Le Conte, timed by luck to a temperature inversion: the valleys filled with cloud and the ridgelines became a shoreline. Everything here was shot in about eighteen hours, sunset to sunrise.

A rocky ridgeline running down into a sea of cloud
Late sun hanging over cloud-filled valleys
Golden evening light raking the mountain's flank
Sunset over a sea of clouds filling the valleys below Mount Le Conte
The last ember of sunset lighting a cloud above silhouetted firs
LeConte Lodge cabins in night fog
The stone path between lodge cabins disappearing into morning fog
Morning inversion, ridgelines breaking through the cloud like islands
A hiker shading his eyes over the morning cloud sea
Clouds lifting off the ridges in the morning
A footbridge over a cascading creek on the descent
The creek pouring through mossy boulders, back below the clouds
